International Training centre for Mahouts

Kerala is still waiting for the clearance to start an International Training centre for mahouts.  Thailand and Germany had two similar centres.  In Kerala the number of captive elephants reached 800(the highest no. of elephants in India).  This centre will be helpful to mahouts, elephant managers and elephant lovers of all around the world.  The proposed site is at Kodanad which has an elephant kraal(training yard for elephant).  A small training centre for mahouts is there and Forest Department is conducting classes for mahouts.

Kodanad is in the banks of Periyar.  The serene atmosphere and the wild beauty with the trumpeting music of elephants. You can see the baby elephants. Another main attraction is elephant safari.  A zoo is also there.
