Sree Subrahmanya Swamy Temple, Perunna

This temple is an ancient one located at Changanacherry in Kottayam District.  Chief diety of the temple is Sree Subrahmanya swamy or Murukan. 

Other dieties are Ganapathy, Shiva,  Mahavishnu,  Nagas and Brahma rakshass.

The diety is in standing form with his 'Vel' in downward position after the victory over evil forces.  Thrikkarthika is celebrated as the day of victory of Sri muruka over Tharakasura. 

Panchamritham and Aravana are special offerings to the temple.  Thaippooyakkavadi is the annual festival which is a spectacular event.  Shashti vratham is a special ritual of this temple.

Temple is under Oorazhma devaswom.  Shashti day is observed with great devotion for removing the obstacles and for a prosperous life.
