Decisions to stop the parading of elephants Due to some actions taken by the Forest department of Kerala the Sivagiri Mutt and Malankara Orthodox church vowed not to parade elephants during the festival processions. This decision has been welcomed by Aana Premi Sanghom(Elephant lovers Association) as a relief to elephant lovers of the country. Recently a lot of incidents among the elephants attacking the mahouts and the cruelty towards this wild animal have been reported.
