"Elephant's can certainly build up a memory over the years and hold on to it" says Karen Mccomb an animal communication expert.  Her studies in elephants of Kenya for 7 years revealed that elephants have a larger memory capacity compared to any other animal.  Leading elephant of the herd,  matriarch has more memory than the youngsters.  She gives alerts to the herd after analyzing  the situations.

An elephant from Kerala,  Pambady Sundaran knows the path to his mahout's home and his owner's home.  His owner Mudankallel baby and his mahout Parackal Omanakuttan reveals the special memory capacity of this elephant.  He didn't forget the path after a long time journey to various temples during festive seasons.  Everday his fodder includes banana,  rice flakes, rice and jaggery.  During musth period he will be in rest for 20 days.  During that period his main food is the wood of palm tree.  His good manners made him the favourite of the people of Pambady.
