Manjulalthara(Big banyan tree at Guruvayoor)

Manjula was a warrior girl,  always make garlands with great devotion and love towards Krishna.  Every day she offers garlands to the Guruvayoor temple.  One day she was too late to enter the temple and became very sad about the incident.  Then a great devotee of Sri Guruvayoorappa and Poet Poonthanam advised her to place the garland on the stone below the big banyan tree considering it as Srikrishna.  Convinced by his words she placed the garland on that stone and went to home with satisfaction.  The next day at the temple,  the chief priest removed all the ornaments and garland from the deity but one garland was stuck to the deity.  Then Poonthanam remembered all this and told him about the devotion of Manjula.  From that time the banyan tree became to know as 'Manjulalthara'.

In Bhagawad Gita Bhagawan says 'among the trees,  I am the Banyan tree'.  Banyan tree has more divinity than the others.
