Muthanga wildlife sanctuary

Wild life sanctuary has a wide area of thick forest and has the largest of number of wild elephants.  It has connection to the Mudumalai and Karnataka forests.  It is located about 16kms from Sulthan Bathery.  Facility for elephant ride is also here.  It has an area of 345 square kilometers.  Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary has the highest density of Asiatic elephant population according to the last sensus.

 The wildlife at Muthanga includes Sambhar,  Panthers,  tigers,  reptiles,  monkeys,  wild pigs,  leoperds,  jungle cats,  wild dogs,  spotted deer and other animals
