Konni eco tourism project

Konni is a tourist destination,  developed as an eco-tourism project.  The existing elephant kraal had expanded scientifically and acting as a base station for the tourism activities around the region .  Elephant ride through the thick forests is a thrilling experience for the tourists and natives.  It is a unique way to appreciate nature and to take wild photographs.  The centre has the facilities for activities like trekking,  rock climbing and river rafting in the nearby forests.

The whole project includes an elephant museum,  mini movie theatres,  elephant shelters,  elephant riding facility,  trekking,  shelter for mahouts  and elephant shows.  A mini park at Naduvathumuzhy,  a watch tower at Kottapparamala and a rope way linking Kottapparamala and Sukhiyan mala are also under development.  The museum will display a skeleton of an adult elephant and it will show various stages of the evolution of elephants.  This museum will developed into a research centre in future.  Here elephant dung is used to generate bio gas and the fiber in the dung is used to to produce greeting cards and eco friendly paper.
