Dr.Jacob V Cheeran

An international expert in capturing of wild elephants.  A veteran in the field of managing captive elephants.  Retired as a Professor of the veterinary college of Trichur.  Still working in the field of elephants as a member of the elephant welfare association,  Asian elephant research and conservation center,  Wildlife trust of India  and Elephant steering Committee of Government of India.  CEO of Cheeran's lab of Kerala manufacturing various animal health products.

In 2006 he and his colleagues started  free health check-up clinics for all the captive elephants of India.  The clinic was a mobile one and the attempt was commenting which draw attention even from the foreign countries.  He said that the program will continue for a couple of years.
