 There are 7 elephant camps in Kerala.  These are run by the Forest Department of Kerala Govt.

1. Konni-Pathanamthitta District
2. Kodanad-ErnakulamDistrict
3. Muthanga
4. Nilambur-Malappuram District
5. Tholpetti
6. Arynkavu-Pathanamthitta District
7. Thekkady-Idukki District

In these camps elephants have mahouts and they have working schedule and diet guidelines as per the Forest Dept. rules.  Elephants are allowed to graze in the forest.  Their diet include Palmleaves,  Wheat,  Ragi,  Horse gram and Karipetti(a variety of Jaggery).
