Aattukal Devi Temple
Temple is a world famous devi temple in
Kerala's capital city. Aattukal pongala is the festival of the temple
during the month March had entered into the Guinnes book of world records in
the category in which the functions with more than 10 Lakh people
participation. Its also the only one festival where only women prepare
'nivedyam' for devi neglecting the barriers of cast, creed, age,
religion or language. Its a must see event in Kerala, in which women
participate with great devotion and vigour.
Legends behind the temple says that the devi is Kannaki. 'Thottm pattu' an ethnic art form of Kerala is observed in festival days. Location: About 4Km from Thiruvananthapuram Railway station. Around 12 Km from the Thiruvananthapuram airport.
